I got this book for a Web Applications class, and have found it to serve as an excellent textbook. Like most Microsoft Press Step By Step books it is well written and is written in a way where it seems that the author is talking to you and not just presenting facts. The book starts off with an Intro to Windows Azure (what it is, who it is for, and the benefits of it, and how to use it), the talks about how the Azure servers work and what they use, and then goes into how to deploy your project in the Cloud, and includes using and creating AppFabric solutions, WCF Data Services and OData, and how to use SQL Azure. The book is easy to follow and has numerous screenshots of what the author sees when following the steps, so you can ensure that you are doing it right, by comparing screens.In the end this is an easy to read book, that follows a simple step by step approach, by taking the readers hand and showing them how to do basic tasks, that can later allow the reader to combine these simple tasks to achieve larger projects. About the Author

Neil J. Salkind received his PhD from the University of Maryland in Human Development, and taught for 35 years at the University of Kansas in the Department of Psychology and Research in Education. His early interests were in the area of children’s cognitive development, and after research in the areas of cognitive style and (what was then known as) hyperactivity, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of North Carolina’s Bush Center for Child and Family Policy. His work then changed direction and the focus was on child and family policy, specifically the impact of alternative forms of public support on various child and family outcomes. He delivered more than 150 professional papers and presentations; and wrote more than 100 trade and textbooks; and is the author of Statistics for People Who (Think They) Hate Statistics (Sage), Theories of Human Development (Sage), and Exploring Research (Prentice Hall). He edited several encyclopedias, including the Encyclopedia of Human Development, the Encyclopedia of Measurement and Statistics, and the recently published Encyclopedia of Research Design. He was editor of Child Development Abstracts and Bibliography for 13 years.

ROBERT GARLAND is Roy D. and Margaret B. Wooster Professor of the Classics at Colgate University. His research focuses on the social, religious, political, and cultural history of both Greece and Rome. He has written ten books and many articles in both academic and popular journals. His books include Introducing New Gods (2nd ed. 2008), Celebrity in the Ancient World (2006), Surviving Greek Tragedy (2004), Julius Caesar (2004), The Greek Way of Death (2nd ed. 2001), The Piraeus (2nd ed. 2001), The Greek Way of Life (1990), Religion and the Greeks (1994), and The Eye of the Beholder: Deformity and Disability in the Graeco-Roman World (1995). He has produced Greece and Rome: An Integrated History of the Ancient Mediterranean for The Teaching Company (2008), and has been a consultant and discussant for several television productions on the ancient world.
